We've already had some wonderful shows this summer in places like Tulsa, OK, Asbury Park, NJ and Philadelphia, PA. We've met so many great people and seen so many fun sights!
Our trip to Tulsa was great and we got to see a handful of fun places like the famed Cain's Ballroom and The Woodie Guthrie Center! The Woodie Guthrie collection of memorabilia was completely inspiring. We got to see the original lyrics to "This Land is Your Land" and a very lovely and inspiring letter W.G. wrote to his niece on the day she was born to welcome her to the world. Beyond that, we had a great time playing the first annual Kid's Day @ The Guthrie Green. Although it was a rainy day, everyone still came out to sing, dance and play, so it was great. We also got to meet fellow kindie music makers Lucky Diaz and the Family Jam Band! Lucky, Alisha and their daughter Ella make a great team and wonderful music, so be sure to check them out! So glad we got to see them again later in our travels!
Next we played a show in our honorary hometown of Asbury Park, NJ at the Lakehouse Music Academy. It was so nice to see so many familiar AND new faces! We were overwhelmed with all the love and the packed turnout of this show. We managed to shoot a lot of this live show on video so hopefully we'll have some fun video to post soon. We love you Asbury Park, and we can't wait to come back and play another show... Maybe this FALL?!! We shall see!
Finally on this last little June run, we arrive to play a showcase at KindieComm to an awesome array of musicians and educators in all things Kids Music related. This was such a fun and enriching event! Big thanks go out to Kathy O'Connell and Robert Drake who created this lovely event. They also host and produce Kids Corner, which is America's longest-running daily call-in radio show for kids. We were very excited to meet them and all the other attendees of this great event. We look forward to the next one! It was amazing to see old friends and meet new ones and the highlight was definitely dancing like monsters on stage with Kathy and our host for the night Tim Kubart. Wooohooo!
